Half empty or half full
I think it was Picasso that said "you can do anything in art, as long as you never do it twice". Repetition and imitation are an artists worst enemies and when your drained your at the greatest risk of those flaws. I have been working pretty hard lately and the batteries need recharging, I believe a vacation is in order. So I'm off to Montreal for a week. I'm gonna take some photos, check out some galleries, eat some food and visit an old friend. Sometimes all you need is a change of scenery and to press the reset button.

See you all next year!!
So the dust has settled and the first annual Capital City Tattoo Convention turned out to be nothing short of a monster success. Every last bit of hard work payed off, the show was stellar and the support was unbelievable. The media and pictures are now starting to flood in and its almost overwhelming to see the sheer amount of stuff out there. This one especially hits home for me...
To all the sponsors, volunteers, artists and attendees.....a sincere thank you.

The show must go on...
7 months ago a friend came to me and said he wanted to throw the first ever Victoria Tattoo Convention, now here we are with 4 days left until the doors open and the show starts. We have worked our fingers to the bone on this one. We have been met with resistance and overcome it, we have jumped hurdles and gone through hoops, we rode the roller coaster of highs and lows right till the end and never once did the idea to call it quits ever cross our minds. Amongst all the hard work has been the support ..the city and all those that chose to get involved have truly been the fuel that kept the fire going. With 4 days left, I want to give credit where credit is due. To the guy that stuck to his guns no matter what anyone tried to do or say to throw him off his path - Shawn Stienberg, you got guts man.
I encourage everyone that reads this to CLICK the link and check out the site. This weekend is going to be a BLAST, so come down to the show and give your support to all the artists and bands that make Victoria the unique city that it is........

I'm going to try and continue posting through all the madness leading up to the convention but to be honest, its a little hard to keep up with at the moment. If anyone out there is interested in hearing me tattoo live on the radio I will be on the ZONE 91.3 morning show Wed March 10th @ 8:30 am.

A cross the universe
Inspired by my last post, I set out to do some stuff related to the best french DJ duo ever, JUSTICE. I took a slew of abstract photos (by messing around with my shutter speeds and exposure values) blasted the music in my headphones and then cleaned it all up in Photoshop. All the songs I chose are off the Cross album which is now a few years old but still one of my personal favs. If you havent heard it....now is the time to check it out. Life can get pretty hectic sometimes and it's good to just crank some tunes and do some art for the fun of it. - Dont be shy, vote or comment at the bottom..let me know what you think!

A good time for music you might not know about.
I have been waiting for spring. As far as I'm concerned its a good time for music. Ed Banger Records is set to release 2 albums really soon (supposedly this month), 1 by Justice and the other from Uffie. Now, I'm a big Justice fan, and as much as I'd like to sit here and talk about how awesome they are I'm not gonna...because its the Uffie single that totally caught me off guard. Uffie is pretty effin cool. About as cool as an american born, hong kong raised and now paris based underground rap chick can be. For the past few years she has only released singles or worked along side guys like Justice and any talk of a solo record has just been rumor. But now her new album "Sex, Dreams and Denim jeans" is set to come out this month and I really hope it has all of the old school hip hop crunchiness of this single...check it out.
